Special Education Coordinator
Location: Spark Academy, Provo, UT
Schedule: Exempt, Monday–Friday, year-round academic calendar with two-week breaks between terms and holidays off.
About Us
Spark Academy is a co-ed, year-round residential treatment program for adolescents with neurodiversity, specializing in high-functioning Autism. Accredited by the Utah State Board of Education, we provide project-based learning with a 1:12 classroom ratio. We are part of The Heritage Community, a non-profit organization established in 1984 with a 19-acre campus dedicated to helping students heal, grow, and succeed.
Position Overview
The Special Education Coordinator manages student IEPs/ISPs, working closely with school districts, parents, therapists, and staff to ensure accurate goals, compliance, and student success. This role requires strong organization, communication, and advocacy to help students achieve academic milestones and prepare for graduation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and track IEP/ISP goals for each student.
Communicate with parents, districts, therapists, and staff regarding student progress.
Maintain accurate academic records and transcripts to meet graduation requirements.
Write professional IEP goals tailored to project-based learning.
Stay current with IDEA law, eligibility criteria, and special education procedures.
Support students with focus, regulation, and learning needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's in Special Education (Master's preferred).
Utah Educator License with SPED endorsement.
5+ years teaching experience.
Strong organizational, communication, and mediation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and ability to learn internal systems.
Must be 21+ and fluent in English.
